I am delighted to present The Heirloom Collections. These new collections are a long-realized dream. For twenty years I have been a textile and surface designer in the home furnishings industry. Products I have designed include sheets, towels, wall coverings, woven throws, and china. Since childhood I have loved all forms of needlework. An early fascination with a bedspread my mother received as a wedding present started me on the path toward discovering the history of tufted chenille and its even earlier forerunner, candlewicking. Now my company creates hand needlework reproductions, design variations, and new concepts using stitches and materials of the past.
The Heirloom Collections second mission is to give women in Haiti work at a fair wage that employs their hand needleworking skills. The wage being paid is several times higher than the average Haitian wage. This income has a profound effect on the lives of the individual women, their families, and the whole community.
Our bedspreads are made of 100% cotton and are available in white or cream, the traditional colors of these historic forms of hand needlework. Exquisite in every detail, they are machine washable and dryable, providing many years of service and beauty for your home.
I am continually researching needlework patterns of the past. If you have any candlewick or tufted chenille patterns, I invite you to contact me.
